Banbury Constituency
Banbury Constituency covers the north-east of Oxfordshire. It includes two major towns: Banbury itself and Bicester, both of which are expanding, and the villages that lie between them. The constituency stretches north to Cropredy (famous for its festival), west to Sibford Gower and Hook Norton (home of the beer!), east to include Fringford and south as far as Horton-cum-Studley. Deddington, Bloxham and Bletchingdon are all within its boundaries.
It is often said that Banbury has one of the highest employment levels in the country, but that should not hide the fact that there are some areas of deprivation, particularly in Banbury itself.
In political terms, you will know that this is a Conservative-held seat. The MP, Tony Baldry, has been around since 1983. In 2005, the LibDems came third, increasing our share to 18% and taking votes from Labour.
